Nicotine gum and patches – These products work by releasing nicotine into the human body. They try and feed your bodies thirst for nicotine that you would usually get from a cigarette.
They quite often work for a little while but the smoker still feels the need to hold a smoke.
They are an ongoing cost and the smoker is still addicted to the drug nicotine.
Champix – By blocking the effects of nicotine in your body. There are receptors for nicotine in the brain. When cigarette smoke is inhaled, nicotine attaches to these receptors. This sends a message to a different part of the brain to release a chemical called dopamine
